Claire McCollum

Claire McCollum began her career in broadcasting with Macmillan Media in 1997. She also worked as a researcher for CNN and as a newsreader on Downtown Radio. Claire joined UTV in March 2000. As well as presenting and reporting for UTV Sport, she has also presented UTV News bulletins and Sport on Sunday. Claire was the first broadcast journalist to feature Jenna McCorkell and in fact travelled to the World Junior C'Ships to cover Jenna's progress in the competition for a full week. Clare has covered Jenna in many of the features highlighted in this section.

In 2009 Claire is now a freelance journalist/broadcaster and has already covered Children In Need from Northern Ireland for the BBC and also works for Sky TV Broadcasting. She will continue to cover Jenna as she prepares of the forthcoming season in particular the 2010 Winter Games

 
 
Nigel Ringland

Nigel has been the Sports Correspondent at DTR/Cool FM since March 1999. The resume of sporting events he has covered includes some of the biggest in the world.Nigel produces,  writes and broadcasts all the Sports bulletins on DTR and Cool FM, Nigel regularly covers Ulster rugby, Irish League football, GAA, Belfast Giants ice hockey and Olympic sports. He has interviewed Jenna and will be covering her throughout the 2009/10 season in particular the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver...

Events covered by Nigel - 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 Ryder Cups 1999 – 2008 Open Championships, 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, 1998-99 Ulster rugby’s European Cup winning campaign, 2006 Ulster rugby’s Magners League winning campaign 2006, 2007 World Rowing Championships 2002, 2003, 2006 Belfast Giants championship campaigns.

Nigel won the CIPR Sports Broadcaster of the Year Award in 2004 and was shortlisted for the PPI Sports Broadcaster of the Year Award in 2007.

 

 

Denise Watson

 

Denise graduated from Queen's University in 1993 with a degree in English Literature and worked inititally in commercial radio Denise Watson joined BBC Sport NI in 1996 after working as a presenter on ESPN and Sky Sports. A key organiser of the BBC NI Sports Relief fun run, Denise won the 2007 IPR Sports Journalist of the Year Award.Denise covered the first ever live broadcast of Ice Skating in Northern Ireland whenever she interviewed Neil Wilson (British Champion) and conducted a live broadcast from the NI Open Ice Skating C'Ships from Dundonald International Ice Bowl.

Denise filmed and interviewed Jenna for BBC Newsline November 2009.
